update 6-12-2005 Sponsors of LionNet MassachusettsThe Hanson Lions are members of Lions International the largest service organization in the world with nearly 1.4 million members in 192 countries and geographic locations. We are devoted to serving the members of our community by tackling the tough problems of blindness and drug abuse. We also attempt to improve the quality of life in our community by donating eyeglasses to those who cannot afford them and making annual donations the Cranberry Hospice and Lions Eye Research. However, one of the most rewarding aspects of being a Hanson Lion is the feeling generated by participating in the many annual events run by the Lions such as The Elderly Turkey Dinner and breakfast with Santa and the Bunny. The Hanson Lions Club has established many traditions which members of our community look forward to. As mentioned earlier one of the Clubs most rewarding is the Elderly Turkey Dinner, which is held annually at the Hanson Senior Center around St. Valentines Day. It gives the elderly an opportunity for companionship on this special day. The members pick them up at their door and chauffeur them to the Center where Club members wait on them. Members of the local community donate the turkeys and all of the trimmings. This makes them feel very special. If you are ever in the vicinity drop in, not to see Lion Ernie carve the turkey, but to see the smiles. . |
